Armchair Living in Style
After much internal debate, I bought a sofa. Just went out there and dropped money like it was no big deal. Now, I'll be armchair living in style in my brand new 2.5 seater sofa. A small step towards living like a working adult and discarding the 'student' label.
It was on sale so that helps. It'll take 3 months to arrive but hey, I've waited for over 18 months so no dramas there. Went with a dark grey colour which still concerns me a little but it would make a nice contrast to colourful cushions or little coffee table or ottoman. I've got an Ikea shopping spree coming up to get more bookcases, a tv bench, dresser for the bed room and a bed side table. I've decided a bed will have to be a project for next year.
Then maybe, just maybe, I'll go to Doug up on Bourke or Junktique and find myself an interesting coffee table or study desk - something I could paint. Maybe a little kitchen trolley because I could use the extra storage space. Hmm, a carpet? I'm liking the idea of a Persian style rug not some contemporary or plain piece. Add some colour to the currently bland living space. Lavender for the backyard - not that I know much about planting.
I was rather, ahh, vigorous with pruning the sad excuse of a shrub in my backyard. It was sparse with many dead little twigs and no flowers. I started trimming away with secateurs and next thing you know, it's dramatically smaller. My theory ( based upon my vast horticulture experience) is that the 'shock' of having such an extensive pruning will trigger the plant to sprout new leaves and maybe even flowers - though I'm not exactly sure if it's a plant of the flowering kind. O well. I'd love to have lavender in there. It's hardy and gorgeous.
Little steps. Little steps. Soon, i'll be able to take photos and share my space with others. I'm hoping that by improving my physical space and my physical self, it would help in the preparation for the 2012 exams. The big kahuna, the showdown, the smackdown. The event that will cause sleepless nights and recurring waking nightmares. Over-dramatic you say? Hah! You. Have. No. Idea.
